Subscription Series A • Six evening concerts

New World, Liturgique, Leningrad, Mahler’s Third. These words are not magic spells, but they conjure up four major symphonies of the worldwide repertoire that will be heard one after the other in this subscription series. There will also be a concert performance of Janáček’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen, and other works include songs by Mahler, Dvořák’s Piano Concerto, and Haydn’s “Drumroll” Symphony.

Subscription Series B • Six evening concerts

Subscription Series B • Six evening concerts

It would be only a slight exaggeration to call Subscription Series B a Czech-Austrian Series with one sidestep to Russia and France. Semyon Bychkov will conduct works by Dvořák, Beethoven, and Brahms, and Jakub Hrůša will lead Suk’s Ripening. Giovanni Antonini will offer a Mozart opera gala, and Tugan Sokhiev will debut with an excursion to Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition orchestrated by Ravel.

Subscription Series C • Four evening or afternoon concerts

Special Concerts

Special Concerts

The 128th season will open with three evenings commemorating the history shared by the Czech Philharmonic and Antonín Dvořák. For the traditional Concerts for Freedom and Democracy, we are welcoming the iconic conductor Antonio Pappano, and our New Year’s Concerts will bring us into the Year of Czech Music, to which the popular Open Air Concert at Hradčany Square will also be devoted.

Dress Rehearsals

Dress Rehearsals

You are invited to morning public dress rehearsals before subscription concerts. Traditionally, an orchestra member gives a spoken introduction about the programme or about the preparations from the viewpoint of a participating orchestral player. For the first time in several years, we are going back to offering a Special New Year’s Eve Dress Rehearsal, which has the status of a special concert.
