Subscription Series


IIn its 129th season, the Czech Philharmonic presents subscription cycles A, B, C and four special concerts. Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov shares the stage with Principal Guest Conductor Jakub Hrůša and recently appointed Principal Guest Conductor Rafael Kubelík Chair Sir Simon Rattle. Conductors Nathalie Stutzmann and Alan Gilbert will make their debuts with the orchestra, and pianist Daniil Trifonov appears as Artist-in-Residence.

In Subscription Series A you will hear a wide variety of compositions—from Telemann to Jaroslav Krček. Besides Mahler and Shostakovich, there will also be less frequently heard works by composers like Gideon Klein and Hans Krása. All of this will be performed by Semyon Bychkov, Simon Rattle, Jakub Hrůša, or Giovanni Antonini.

The concerts of Subscription Series B are prepared by the conductors Semyon Bychkov, John Eliot Gardiner, Manfred Honeck, Tomáš Netopil, and Jakub Hrůša with the soloists Daniil Trifonov, Josef Špaček, and Matthias Goern. You will enjoy Czech repertoire as well as symphonies by Mahler, Shostakovich, and Beethoven.

Each season, our traditional special projects include pairs of Opening Concerts, Concerts for Freedom and Democracy, New Years’ Concerts, and a concluding Outdoor Concert. For our 127th season, we are adding Advent concerts and a special concert by our artists-in-residence.

Our popular Advent Concerts take place in the Rudolfinum’s Suk Hall every Sunday in Advent at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. You will hear varied programmes in the pre-Christmas spirit prepared by chamber ensembles consisting of Czech Philharmonic members and their guests. You can combine attending a concert with a visit to the Café Rudolfinum.

For its 127th season, the Czech Philharmonic is offering six morning public dress rehearsals. The conductor is fully in charge of the rehearsals and may interrupt the music or play some passages repeatedly. There is a special system for advance sales of tickets to public dress rehearsals.
