Lukáš Dittrich is one of the leading Czech clarinettists. He has won many awards – besides the title of laureate at national and international competitions including the Leoš Janáček International Competition and representing the Czech Republic at Eurovision Young Musicians 2010, he also won scholarships from the Leoš Janáček Foundation and the Czech Music Fund. He began his musical studies under his father, then he studied at the Brno Conservatoire in the studio of Lubomír Bartoň and at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno under Vít Spilka and Milan Polák. From 2012 to 2014 he belonged to the Orchestral Academy of the Czech Philharmonic. From 2015 to 2023 he was principal clarinettist of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
He has appeared several times in Czech Radio and Czech Television broadcasts and recordings. He has played as a soloist with the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Brno Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc, the West Bohemia Symphony Orchestra in Mariánské Lázně, and the chamber orchestra Czech Virtuosi. He also belongs to the Czech Radio Trio, which focuses on promoting Czech composers.
Lukáš Dittrich is a multi-genre musician who is unafraid to experiment with a variety of musical styles. For this reason, he often not only collaborates with classical musicians, but also makes regular guest appearances at projects of DJ Alegs or creates his own original projects in a style combining jazz, funk, and electronic music. He has also appeared with the jazz trumpet player Laco Déczi and his band Celula New York and with the Czech Philharmonic Jazz Band at Bobby McFerrin’s Prague concert.
