He has been playing the cello since the age of five, first with Mirko Škampa, then continued at the Prague Conservatory with Professor Josef Chuchro and Associate Professor Miroslav Petráš with whom he also studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, graduating in 2001.

He has succeeded in many competitions, including the Heran Competition 1986 in Ústí nad Orlicí (Czech Republic), the Music School Competition 1987 in Prostějov (Czech Republic), Liezen International Cello Competition 1992 (Austria) and Leoš Janáček Competition 1995 in Brno. In 2000, he won the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Award for his performance of Martinů Cello Sonata No. 2.

He records for the Czech Radio and completed his compulsory military service in the Ondráš Ensemble.
