Antonín Kratochvíl has played the violin since he was six years old, when he began taking lessons at the Elementary School of the Arts in Valašské Meziříčí. After finishing elementary school, he chose to study at the Prague Conservatoire under Prof. Radim Kresta, and he is continuing there in his sixth year of study. As a student, he has taken part at competitions (Second Prize at New European Talents in České Budějovice plus the prize for the best performance of a composition by Váša Příhoda; First Prize in the string ensemble category at the Teplice Camerata chamber music competition) and at masterclasses (Kroměříž Academy – Dalibor Karvay, Václav Hudeček Academy – V. Hudeček/Jiří Fišer, Soběslav Musical Encounter– Jan Fišer).
