Orchestral Academy – Clarinet

The Czech Philharmonic and its Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov announce an audition for the Orchestral Academy for the period from 1st September 2025 to 30th June 2027 in the clarinet section.

Application deadline: 31st March 2025
Audition date and place: 5th May 2025, Rudolfinum, Prague

The opportunity to broaden their education and gain valuable experience in the academy of the first Czech orchestra is especially available to students and graduates of secondary and higher music schools, both from the Czech Republic and abroad.

To apply, please fill in the application form and attach your structured CV and a copy of your diploma or confirmation of the ongoing study.

Audition repertoire

Solo piece:

  • C. M. von Weber: Clarinet Concerto No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 74 – 1st and 2nd movement

Orchestral excerpts:

Clarinet

  • B. Smetana: The Bartered Bride, opera overture
  • L. van Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68 “Pastorale”
  • L. van Beethoven: Symphony No. 8 in F major, Op. 93
  • B. Smetana: Má vlast (My Fatherland), Šárka (selection)
  • P. I. Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 “Pathétique”
  • D. Shostakovich: Symphony No. 9 in E-flat major, Op. 70

Bass clarinet

  • A. Dvořák: The Wild Dove, Op. 110
  • R. Strauss: Don Quixote, Op. 35

Candidate must ONLY play the Böhm/French system. The Reform-Böhm-System or the German system are NOT applicable.

You can apply for the audition until 31st March 2025.

Students between the ages of 18 and 26 (decisive is the age on the day of the audition) may apply to the Orchestral Academy.
