Snowflakes are falling outside the windows, but it’s warm inside and the smell of evergreen needles is everywhere. We hear Tchaikovsky’s magical music, and we set out for a fairytale kingdom… We’ll follow footprints in the snow, our drumming will overpower the Mouse King, until finally we dance our way to the Christmas tree. And then what? We’ll unravel whether it was all a dream…

What is opera? To get an answer, we'll go see Mr. Janáček and his pupil Zdenka. Will walk through a mysterious forest, by a pond we'll turn into animals, then we'll knock on a door. In the room inside, Leoš Janáček has just finished The Cunning Little Vixen, and we'll try out what it's like to sing in an opera like that.

Become apprentice magicians in the percussion kingdom, where the wizard Pavel Polívka lives. Everyone will feel safe there, like in a lair, even if there happens to be rumbling thunder, rain, or a stampede of horses.

The journey can be the destination. Let's go together to a concert of chamber music by Antonín Dvořák. Where will we go? As far as America. What will we be riding? Dvořák's favourite means of transportation. Who will go with us? The Norbert Quartet - real string experts.

We'll wander over the mountains, across Moravia and Slovakia, to see what music and dancing are like when done eagerly. We'll plunk on the cimbalom and find out what it's like to lead playing the violin or to accompany playing double bass or viola, and at the end, we'll dance together. What fun!

With the actress Martha Issová, we will head for the realm of musical wonders and the world of Jaroslav Ježek. The new programme commemorates the 120th birthday of the composer, conductor, and pianist. Awaiting you are the players of the trombone and tuba section of our orchdstra: the Czech Philharmonic Low Brass Ensemble.
