It is with deep regret that we announce the death of conductor Libor Pešek at the age of 89.
Libor Pešek was one of the most important Czech conductors and was known as a great promoter of the works of composer Josef Suk. For six years he led the orchestra in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands and later the orchestra in Enschede. From 1987 to 1997 he was Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
From 1981 to 1990 he was a regular guest of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. In recent years he has most often conducted the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
Honour his memory.
