Subscription Series B

At six concerts, you will hear repertoire of the 19th century—Brahms, Dvořák, Schumann, and Berlioz—with some overlapping into previous and subsequent epochs—Nielsen, Janáček, Shostakovich, Suk, Ravel. Jakub Hrůša will complete his Suk cycle with a performance of Epilogue, and Simon Rattle will present his conception of Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass.

For series B, Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov has prepared one all-Brahms programme and another which presents music by Shostakovich side by side with music from the Classical era. For this second programme, Bychkov has invited British cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason to make his Czech Philharmonic debut following the cancellation of his Prague January 2022 performance. Also making their Czech Philharmonic debuts in this series are American conductor Alan Gilbert and Italian pianist Beatrice Rana. Returning guests include German bass-baritone Christian Immler and Russian-American pianist Kirill Gerstein, and Jakub Hrůša and the Czech Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will work together once again following a successful first collaboration last season.
