Subscription Series I

Just as the Czech Philharmonic has its artist-in-residence, chamber music is given a dramaturgical identity by the curator. This year the choice fell on the phenomenal German violinist Julia Fischer. In the first row of the Czech Chamber Music Society, she will perform with her ensemble as well as with the musicians of the Czech Philharmonic.

Julia Fischer is one of the most sought-after violinists of today. In addition to solo performances with world-class orchestras, she is also an enthusiastic chamber musician. She has built her concerts with a clear emphasis on Czech music, just like Sir András Schiff. On the occasion of the Year of Czech Music, the Belfiato Quintet also included Bedřich Smetana alongside Barber, Thomasi and Hindemith. Two hundred years since the birth of the founder of the Czech modern music tradition will also be commemorated by the great French piano Trio Wanderer. The Collegium Marianum does not venture into such novelties as Smetana. They will tempt you to the Baroque composers František Ignác Antonín Tůma and František Jiránek.
